this fall i purchased jeff this beautiful knife for his birthday. since i've been back home, i've used it every. single. night. i kid you not. the guys over at New West KnifeWorks must have felt my whole-hearted love for that knife because they offered me a new one, the mini chopper. i've been giving my new knife way more attention lately.
i like to call it my garlic ninja. at least that's what i feel like when i'm slicing and dicing. this power just comes over me. to be honest, i've been adding garlic to everything these days, just so i can whip out the mini chopper. it's also awesomely gorgeous so i use it when we have guests over. the handle (just like our fusion chef knife) is the peacock color and it's pretty much my favorite thing to look at in the kitchen. the colors are stunning and we are slowly but surely building up to a complete set! doesn't it just look perfect with a gourmet cheese plate? i certainly enjoy showing it off.

2. passed through dino land en route to colorado. yes, its a real place. vernal, utah is basically a ghost town with a loooot of brightly colored dinosaurs scattered all over. made me think of all of the 1950's road trips made there way back when.
3. stumbled across this amazing early 19th century photo shoot of my great-grandfather. i like to think i inherited his fun characteristic.
4. sir fluffsalot snoozing this am. that dog likes to seriously sleep in.
5. long open roads. 10 hours to telluride.....7 hours to denver.....8 hours to jackson....mumford & sons on repeat.
6. skiing in telluride for bachelorette fun. we mastered baking a weenie cake at high elevations if anyone needs any tips. yep.

the biggest...
especially to this guy.
and the entire jackson hole community.
and all of my friends and family all over.
in the last two weeks, i've lost two loved ones.
my colleague, friend, and brother, jarad, in a tragic avalanche.
and then my sweet, sweet, grandfather to the horrific parkinson's.
the past two weeks have taught me oh, so much about life and love.
i left the heart wrenching week behind me with the inspiration to move forward in a very positive way.
and then i heard the news of the loss of my first grandparent.
while this day has been tough, i'm deciding to take what both men have instilled in my heart.
live life to the fullest and love those around you with all your might.
and that my friends, is just what i'm gonna do.

peak travel style. (and a winner!)
colleen flew in from chicago for a week of skiing, hot springing, dining, and moose hunting.
and to debut her modeling career. [see above. hot stuff.]
if you come to visit, i will put you to work!
slash i convinced her to stand outside in the cold while i snapped photos as her flight was boarding.
i think she nailed it on the appropriate way to dress when traveling to a mountain town
or anywhere in the winter for that matter.
stylish, comfortable, casual.
colleen, you were a good sport and you look damn good in that hat.
